At a very young age Guusje Bertholet discovered her passion for drawing and painting. After a series of life events, she finally decided to enrol at the University of Maastricht in a special postgraduate master course in medical illustration.
After her graduation she won the Dutch Design Award with illustrations of a bowel operation.
Alongside her work as a medical illustrator she got particularly inspired by insects. These creatures are losing their habitats to urbanization, with the result that their populations are quickly declining. She wants to immortalize them, as large as possible, before they pass away.
